Keydets Travel to Furman, Wofford for Weekend Matches

LEXINGTON, Va. – Coming off a spirited 2-2 draw with Mercer for Senior Day this past Sunday, the VMI women's soccer team looks to build off the momentum as the Keydets travel to Furman and Wofford for a weekend pair of matches in South Carolina.
 
VMI (3-11-1, 0-4-1) will face the Paladins Friday night at 7 p.m. in Greenville before taking on the Wofford Terriers Sunday at 1 p.m. in Spartanburg.

Senior Gabby Criscione scored her second career goal against the Bears this past Sunday off a penalty kick while junior Sam Fee logged her first goal of the season early in the second half to knot the game at 2-2 and force the eventual draw.
 
About the Furman Paladins (6-5-1, 2-3)
Traditionally a SoCon power in the league standings, the Paladins enter the match with a 6-5-1 overall record and 2-3 mark in league play. Their resume includes wins over Presbyterian, Longwood, UNC Asheville, ETSU, Chattanooga while falling to the likes of Indiana State, Elon and SoCon opponents Wofford, Western Carolina and Wofford.
 
Kyndal Anderson leads the team with six goals while Isabella Gutierrez, Jasmine Greene, Hannah Farr and Hayley Foster all have three. Nieva Gaither leads the squad with five assists, while Gutierrez has four to her credit. Gaither also leads Furman with 47 shots with Greene close behind with 46.
 
Addison Corn (650 minutes) and Nora Sampson (442 mins) have split time in the goalbox this fall. Corn has allowed nine goals, owns a 1.25 goals-against average, and has registered 28 saves for a 5-2-1 personal record. Sampson has played in nine games and has allowed eight goals to go with a 1.63 goals-against average. She owns a 1-2 personal record in 2021.
 
About the Wofford Terriers (3-11, 1-4)
The Terriers are looking to bounce back from a four-game losing streak in conference play as Wofford has come up short recently against ETSU, Western Carolina, Samford and Chattanooga. The Terriers have picked up quality wins over Longwood, USC Upstate and nearby rival Furman this season.
 
Katie Gilligan, Rachel Rasins, Caileen Almeida and McKenzie Guest all have two goals apiece this season to pace the Wofford attack. Mia Bookhard and Savannah Vathy both have one goal apiece, while Gilligan, Rasins and Addie Marlett each have two helpers to guide the Terriers. Rasins leads the team with 31 shots, while Almeida and Bookhard both have 15.
 
Maria Mon has seen a little more time in the goalbox than her partner, Caroline Doss, as the two have tag-teamed the effort in protecting the Terrier goal. Mon has played in 10 games (652 minutes) and has allowed 16 goals on a 2.21 goals-against average. She has logged 51 saves in 2021 and owns a 2-5-0 personal record.  Doss has played in nine matches (448 minutes) and allowed nine goals over the span for a 1.81 GAA. She has 28 saves and an 0-4 personal record.
