LYNCHBURG, Va. - Kerisha Goode and Bria Anderson won their events, while Donovan Walton moved into fifth in school history in the javelin to lead VMI track and field at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier Wednesday in Lynchburg, Va.

Goode won the 200 in 24.50 seconds, besting a field that included a former DIII national podium finisher. Anderson, meanwhile, was the victor in the long jump with a seasonal best for the second straight meet. Wednesday's was 5.85 meters (19'2 1/2").

Walton led the way for the VMI men with a fifth-place finish in the javelin, as he hurled the implement 55.47 M/182'0" for the fifth-longest throw in VMI history. Walton now ranks third in the SoCon this season.

Other results for the Keydet women included Julia Logan finishing second in the high jump (1.66 M/5'5 1/4"), Sarah Leckman placing third in the shot (13.35 M/43'9 3/4") and Christina Hill finishing seventh in the 800 with a seasonal best time of 2:17.37.

The discus was also kind to the Keydets, as they had three of the top nine finishers. Tiffany Quick led the trio, as she returned from a season-long injury with a 44.75 M/146'10" effort that was good for fourth place. Maura Logan was seventh (38.34 M/125'9") and Emily Kirk finished ninth (35.38 M/116'1").

On the men's side, Andrew Arlint was third in the open pole vault (4.62 M/15'1 3/4"), Ross Condrey was sixth in the discus (39.49 M/129'7") and Micah Ellington recorded a sixth-place finish in the 800 (1:55.63).

"This was a great final tune-up for us," said VMI head coach Darrin Webb. "Kerisha Goode and Bria Anderson have been trending the right way for a couple of weeks, and now Donovan Walton and Julia Logan, among others, are as well. We are excited about the opportunity ahead of us to compete well at conference."

VMI track and field will return to action May 10, when the SoCon Championships begin in Cullowhee, N.C.
