Men’s Track and Field finishes strong at JMU Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va. – With only a month remaining before the Southern Conference meet, the VMI men's track and field team continues to pace itself well in preparation with several top finishes and personal bests Saturday at the JMU Invitational in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Halim Hardnett won the high jump with a first-place height of 1.90 meters just ahead of teammate Vahin Middough's second-place mark of 1.85 meters.

Colin Crenshaw came in first in the steeplechase with a season-best time of 10:09.42 while Camden Gonzales was close behind in third in 10:21.32. Freshman Timothy Renquist also showed well with a fifth-place time of 10:28.61.

Fellow freshman Cameron Lambert performed well in the 1500m run with a second-place time of 4:05.93, while Deonte Harris came in third place in the triple jump with a distance of 14.12 meters.

Excellent Finishes
*Rye Jackson placed fourth in the 400m dash with a personal record time of 48.57 seconds
*Nicholas Russo came in fifth in the 3,000m run in 9:46.37
*In the shot put, Elisha Williams finished sixth at 15.05 meters and Tazewell Rae was right behind in seventh at 14.71 meters
*Harris also competed in the 110m hurdles and finished sixth in 15.11 seconds
*Hardnett placed seventh in the 100m dash in 10.91 seconds
*Freshman Grayson Talbott came in eighth in the javelin throw at 41.07 meters
