Anderson and Goode Pace Keydets at Kent State

KENT, Ohio - Kerisha Goode won the women's 60-meter dash and Bria Anderson moved into second in the SoCon in the women's long jump, leading VMI track and field's efforts at the Kent State Tuneup, contested Saturday in Kent, Ohio.

Anderson went from 10th to second in the conference with a 5.74 meter (18'10") jump that also qualified her for the ECAC Championships. The senior finished third overall in the event, while her classmate Goode continued her banner indoor campaign with a winning 7.72 second effort in the 60.

The other podium finisher for the Keydets Saturday was Julia Logan, who finished third in the women's high jump with a best effort of 1.62 meters (5'3 3/4"). Logan will enter next weekend's SoCon Championships second in the SoCon in the event.

Other results Saturday included Lee Warren finishing fourth in the men's 60-meter hurdles (8.32), Sarah Leckman placing seventh in the women's shot (12.86 M/42'2 1/4") and Mia McClain coming home 10th in the women's 200 (26.18).

"We had some tough travel logistics this weekend, competing in two meets," said VMI head coach Darrin Webb. "I'm so proud of how our team fought through it and posted some quality performances. We will get back to the Institute and rest up for next weekend - our program is extremely excited to host the SoCon Championships."

VMI track and field will return to action Saturday, when the SoCon Championships open at the Corps Physical Training Facility. The two-day event will get underway at 10 a.m.
