VMI track and field returns to action Thursday, when the Keydets take part in the High Point Team Challenge at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Action gets underway at 4:15 p.m.
How to Follow
Fans can follow along with the action via videos that will be posted on RunnerSpace.com, as part of the site's +Plus subscription package. The videos will be posted after the events, so the meet will not be shown live.
In addition, it is expected that live results will be available for the meet. A link will be posted here when it is made public.
Admission
For anyone wishing to see the meet in person, there is no charge for admission for this meet.
A Unique Event
Much like its Vertklasse Meet in the spring, this High Point-hosted event is a small meet, designed to run very quickly. Schools are strictly limited as to the number of entries and the entire meet is expected to be over by 9 p.m.
NOTE: The schedule attached to this article is preliminary. It not only may change, but it is expected to be rolling.
Events to Watch
The Keydets are fielding a somewhat unusual entry list this weekend, so several of the team's usual standouts - including Joel Hoisington and Avery Martin - will not be traveling.
Women's 60-Meter Hurdles - 5 p.m.
Yaa Agyepong-Wiafe enters this meet tied for fourth in the SoCon, with a seasonal best of 8.90 that she ran on this track in January. The top two runners in the conference have both gone under 8.50 this season, but moving up as high as third Thursday would be extremely attainable.
Men's Pole Vault - 5 p.m.
While Grant Holmes enters Thursday's proceedings ranked ninth in the conference, this is also an opportunity for others to gain experience. Among them are multi-event athletes Desmond Weinberg-Jones and Levi Whitt, who are both entered here.
Next Time Out
The Keydets will compete in their final meet before the SoCon Championships on Feb. 19, when VMI opens competition in the two-day Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg.
