ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Orla Jordan set a new freshman program record in the 200 IM, but the UNC Asheville Bulldogs defeated the VMI Keydets, 108-72, in women's swimming action Friday in Asheville, N.C. The meet was VMI's (0-1) season opener.
Jordan placed fourth in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:26.35 to break a seven-year old school record.
The Keydets had three podium finishers in the meet as well, all accomplished without any swimmers being exhibitioned. Mckenzie Raber was third in the 1000 free, touching the wall in 11:21.88.
Two relays, the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay, also had the third-quickest times on the day. Jordan, Rebecca Serrano, Gabbie Galvez and Sophia DelBondio were in the medley, and finished in 2:01.61. Natalie Rivas, DelBondio, Haley Scott and Galvez clocked in at 1:45.71.
VMI women's swimming and diving returns to action October 14, when the Keydets take on North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. Action gets underway at 6 p.m.
