LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Women's Swimming & Diving had a pair of Keydets put up stellar placements at Goodall Pool in the VMI Aquatic Center during day two of the America East Championships.
After scoring a top-10 finish in the one-meter yesterday,
Isabelle Haer came back on day two with more to prove, earning not only a top-10 finish but VMI's best finish in the three-meter since 2023. Haer's 254.50 points in the prelims, the third most in the field, secured her spot in the finals, where she placed sixth with 212.80 points.
Breaking records on records was
Avery Shuping, who broke the team and Rat records in the 500 Free prelims (5:11.79) this morning. If that wasn't enough, Shuping returned to the pool tonight and took an extra seven seconds off her prelim time to earn 17th in the C-Finals (5:04.08) to break her own Rat and team records she set hours prior.
Fighting for top times in the 50 Free C-Final were
Mackenzie Byrne and
Noelle Tong, who went 19th (24.01) and 21st (24.30), respectively.
VMI ends the day with 92 points, a 37-point increase compared to last season's first two days.
