Women's Soccer Falls to Howard, 2-0

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 16th-minute goal gave the Howard Lady Bison a lead they would not relinquish Monday evening, en route to a 2-0 win over VMI in women's soccer action in Washington, D.C.

Howard (2-2) got on the board at 15:14, when Jordan Brown scored off a pass inside the 18-yard box. The Lady Bison would then put the game away in the 71st minute, when Brown was fouled inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick try. Retha Koefoed converted the kick to make the score 2-0, and account for the final margin.

The majority of the game was contested in the midfield, as the teams combined for just six shots on goal. VMI (1-6) netminder Angela Redmond made three saves, while Howard keeper Cheyra Bell stopped VMI's lone attempt on goal, a Simone Jimenez try in the 54th minute.

VMI women's soccer will return to action Friday, taking on Navy at Patchin Field. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
