Six Keydets receive NEC postseason recognition

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – After excelling on the field throughout the 2026 season, six VMI Lacrosse team members were recognized by the Northeast Conference Wednesday for their accomplishments as voted upon by the league's coaches.
 
Junior attackman Dayton Bagwell was named to the All-NEC First Team while Beau Durkin, Jack Duncan-Bloom and Greg Peters were named to the All-NEC Second Team. In addition, freshmen Ethan Ostrowski and Alex Seaton were named to the All-Rookie Team as opposing coaches in the conference took notice of their elevated level of play.
 
Dayton Bagwell – All-NEC First Team - Attackman
Bagwell lead the NEC with 41 goals on the year or 3.15 per outing as he matched his goal total from the 2025 season. As the NEC's leader in shots per game at 9.46 after totaling 123 shots on the season, he ranked third in the conference for points per game at 3.69 after registering 48 points (41 goals, 7 assists), which also matched his points total from a year ago.
 
The York, Pennsylvania, native scored 14 combined goals the week of Feb. 17-21 when he earned seven goals against both the Naval Academy on Feb. 17 before tallying seven again versus Hampton a few days later. He scored at least three goals in eight of VMI's 13 games thus far. With one season left to play in 2027, he is already tied for eighth in the program record book for goals as he now has 84 over three seasons at the Institute.

Beau Durkin – All-NEC Second Team – Attackman
Durkin led the conference in assists with 22 for the season as he averaged 1.69 helpers per game. The sophomore exploded on to the scene in his second year at VMI by tallying 20 goals for the year as he ranked second on the team in points with 42 (20 goals, 22 assists).
The Castle Rock, Colorado, native achieved a career-high five assists in consecutive games at Le Moyne Mar. 14 and at Mercyhurst Mar. 21. He took 58 shot attempts during the regular season with 34 on frame. He totaled two game-winning goals and picked up 14 groundballs to go with two caused turnovers for the year.

Jack Duncan-Bloom – All-NEC Second Team – Midfielder
Duncan-Bloom ranked ninth in the NEC in goals per game with 22 for the season as he averaged 1.69 per contest. He achieved a career-high six goals at Mercyhurst and also earned hat tricks against Monmouth and Wagner to help VMI to those three wins. He combined for 28 points for the year as he logged seven assists, including a season-high two versus Mercer February 14. Of his 60 shot attempts, 41 were on frame. The Portland, Oregon, native achieved two game-winning goals for the season to go with eight groundballs.

Greg Peters – All-NEC Second Team – LSM
Peters ranked seventh in the NEC in groundballs per game as the totaled 51 on the year for an average of 3.92 per game.  The Sparta, New Jersey, native played in all 13 games and earned one start at Le Moyne. He picked up 51 groundballs for the season, including a career-high eight at Le Moyne. His seven groundball pickups at LIU helped VMI to a crucial 10-8 upset over then league leader LIU on April 11. He also had seven caused turnovers for the year including three at Mercyhurst March 21.

Ethan Ostrowski – All-NEC Rookie Team – Attackman
Ostrowski scored 19 goals during the regular season, including a season-high five this past weekend in a 14-5 win over Detroit Mercy to earn NEC Player of the Week honors earlier this week. The Annapolis, Maryland, native put up four goals against Monmouth on Mar. 7 and four versus Mercyhurst Mar. 21 He combined for six points vs. Mercyhurst on March 21 by tallying four goals to go with two assists. Ostrowski took 49 shot attempts during the regular season, including a season-high 10 vs. Monmouth March 7. He achieved what proved to be the game-winning goal at Queens on February 28 as VMI escaped with an 11-10 win. He also had nine groundballs for the season, including three vs. Wagner on April 18.

Alex Seaton – All-NEC Rookie Team - Defenseman
Seaton ranked fifth in the NEC in caused turnovers per game with 14 for the year to average 1.56 per outing. The Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, native started all nine games he played in and totaled 19 groundballs, including six vs. Monmouth March 7. He also caused 14 turnovers on the season including a season-high five against Monmouth back on March 7.
