Six lacrosse members named CSC Academic All-District

LEXINGTON, Va. – Leaders of the team on both the field and the classroom, six VMI lacrosse cadet-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team for the sport of men's lacrosse announced Tuesday.

Seniors Jack Rogers, Will Gormsen and Cole Jones as well as junior Dayton Bagwell and sophomores Warner Lewis and Sean Berzins made the list, widely considered as one of the most difficult athletic-academic achievements a collegiate student-athlete can attain.

Academically, the individual must be a sophomore or above in class standing and own at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

On the athletics side, the individual must have competed in at least 90 percent of the institution's games played or have started in at least 66 percent of the contests for the 2026 season.

Despite other team members reaching both the academic and athletic standards for the achievement, only six were allowed to be nominated.

The CSC Academic All-District Men's At-Large team consists of the following sports: golf, wrestling, hockey, volleyball, lacrosse, water polo, fencing and skiing.

With sufficient accolades on both the athletic and academic sides of the spectrum, Dayton Bagwell was elected for consideration to become a CSC Academic All-American, the crown jewel for an NCAA student-athlete to achieve on a national level. CSC members will vote on the finalists through June 23, and the official NCAA Men's At-Large Academic All-America team will be announced on Wednesday, July 8.
