Rogers, Durkin receive NEC weekly honors

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – After exceptional play in VMI's 11-10 come-from-behind win at Queens last Saturday, VMI's Jack Rogers and Beau Durkin received Northeast Conference weekly honors, the league announced Monday.
 
Rogers was named the Co-Player of the Week alongside LIU's Ben McIsaac while Durkin was named a Prime Performer.  Rogers was also named a Prime Performer as a shoe-in for winning Player of the Week recognition.
 
Rogers won 21 of 25 faceoff attempts for an incredible 84 percent win percentage at the Faceoff X to give VMI crucial possession control in its win over the Royals. In addition, the Suwanee, Georgia, native picked up 11 groundballs as well as one shot attempt for the day.
 
Durkin earned his second hat trick of the season by registering three goals during the contest. The Castle Rock, Colorado, native also had an assist for four points on the day and took five shot attempts (.600 shot percentage). He picked up four groundballs in the win to secure additional scoring opportunities for the Keydets.
 
VMI returns home this Saturday in non-conference action when Monmouth pays a visit to Lexington. Faceoff is set for a noon start at Drill Field 2.
