Durkin, Rogers named NEC Prime Performers

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – After helping the lacrosse team knock off co-league leader LIU Sunday, VMI cadet-athletes Jack Rogers and Beau Durkin were named Northeast Conference Prime Performers Monday afternoon.
 
Rogers won 15 of 22 faceoffs to help lift VMI to a huge 10-8 upset over the Sharks Sunday afternoon to tilt the possession battle in VMI's favor en route to the win. The Suwanee, Georgia, native also picked up two groundballs for the day while holding LIU's Shaun Hill - one of the best FO specialists in the conference - to 6-16 on faceoffs for the contest.
 
Durkin scored two goals - including the game-winning goal late in the fourth quarter - to keep VMI's NEC Tournament hopes alive. The Castle Rock, Colorado, native had one assist to total three points for the day and logged seven shot attempts in the big win.
 
The Keydets – now 5-6 for the season and 2-3 in conference play – will continue to fight for playoff contention this Saturday when they host Wagner for Senior Day. Opening faceoff is scheduled for noon up on Drill Field 2.
