Men’s T&F earns top marks at VMI Winter Classic

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's track and field team earned excellent marks and several top finishes Saturday on Senior Day at the VMI Winter Classic held at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

Junior pole vaulter Cameron Thomas also represented VMI at Liberty's Darius Dixon Invite where he achieved seventh place at a height of 5.02 meters.

Freshman Halim Hardnett came in first place in the high jump at 2.00 meters and fellow rookie Vahin Middough placed fourth at 1.85 meters.

Elisha Williams won the individual title in the shot put at 15.02m and teammate Tazewell Rae placed second at 14.96 meters. Rae also placed second in the weight throw at 15.57m, a new personal record.

Freshman Deonte Harris competed well in the triple jump in second place at 14.38 meters.

Excellent Performances
*Senior Ben Hagerich came in second in the mile run in 4:24 just ahead of teammate Cameron Lambert, who placed fifth in 4:27
* Rye Jackson came in third place in 22.39 in the 200m, a new PR
* Anthony Wilkerson arrived in fourth in the 400m in 50.71 seconds, a season-best time
* Taj Peace finished fourth in the 800 meter in 2:01.13
* Zachary Denton logged fourth place at 7.16m in the long jump
* Pole vaulter Jesse Vaughn finished sixth at 3.75m
