LEXINGTON, Va. – With a potential winter storm approaching this weekend, VMI Swimming & Diving has moved up its dual against cross-town rival Washington & Lee in the Battle for Lexington to Friday at Goodall Pool, starting at 7 p.m. Senior Day will highlight the cross-town dual, with VMI honoring its senior class before the meet.
The Keydets come in with high hopes after both men and women came away with a victory last weekend. The men whomped Howard, 214-86, while the women picked up their first win of the season against Saint Francis, 185-105.
VMI's men had a strong outing against the Bison, finishing first place in 14 of the 16 events.
Ian Lutz has been a staple in short distance, winning the 50 Free and 50 Fly last week. On the boards,
Dorian Albee broke the Rat three-meter record he set earlier this season with 253.35 points.
On the women's side,
Isabelle Haer has been producing big wins on the boards, posting a pair of victories last week on the one- and three-meter.
Avery Shuping shattered the Rat and team records in the 1,000 Free for first place and later finished second in the 500 Free last weekend. The 200 Free Relay team with
Mackenzie Byrne,
Noelle Tong,
Lacy Delzell, and
Maddie Wolfe was also victorious in the tri-meet.
For the foes across Letcher Avenue, Washington & Lee's men boast a 5-3 record after sweeping its tri-meet slate last weekend. The women have stormed their way to 5-2 after winning back-to-back meets. This will be the Generals' last meet before the ODAC Championships.
