LEXINGTON, Va. – After falling at Navy (52-7) in the season opener, the VMI Football team will welcome Ferrum College for its home opener on Saturday with kickoff slated for 1:30 p.m. at Foster Stadium.

- Saturday will be considered "5-4-0" day as VMI Athletics aims to bring together Lexington city and the surrounding counties
- Councilman David Sigler, Board Member Leslie Ayers and Mayor Tyson Cooper will be in attendance as honorary captains, and various local businesses will be in attendance
ATHLETICS SURPLUS SALE
- This Saturday, VMI Athletics will host a surplus sale in Moody Hall from 9:00 a.m. to noon
- The sale will consist of VMI helmets, jerseys and other team-issued equipment

- The Keydets hung tough for a quarter, trailing Navy (RV) just 7-0 after the first, but the Midshipmen stayed poised and pulled away for a 52-7 victory

FERRUM FACTS
- The Panthers have made waves recently, moving up from Division III to the Division II Conference Carolinas this past summer
- At the Division III level in 2024, Ferrum posted a record of 5-5, falling to VMI neighbor Washington & Lee 34-0 in October
- The Panthers are coached by Kevin Sherman, who graduated from Ferrum in 1992 and took over prior to the 2024 season
- Ferrum opened its Division II schedule with a 45-13 loss at Catawba this past weekend, being outgained 495-249
- Redshirt sophomore Eli Foutz for the call at quarterback, going 12-of-19 with 108 yards
- Jahylen Lee led Ferrum with 62 yards on the ground, while Foutz rushed for 50
- Tay Taylor had four receptions for 48 yards, while Omarza Gray (Conference Carolinas Special Teams POTW) had two catches for 47 yards
- A number of Panthers recorded multiple tackles, led by Ian Ashworth's 9.0
