The meet will debut new VMI Head Cross Country Coach Tony Skiles who arrived just in time for the fall season. It will also serve as the Keydets' first step toward building momentum for the upcoming Southern Conference Championship in November.

VMI will be led by team captain Jillian Sisk, a 2023 Southern Conference All-Freshman selection, and Reagan Gilman, who earned the same honor in 2024. Both veterans are eager to guide their teammates and showcase the team's resilience and drive.

"Our women may be a smaller squad, but their leadership and discipline set a tone that reflects what VMI athletics is all about," said VMI Director of Track and Field/Cross Country  Zack Scott. "This meet is a chance for them to demonstrate that toughness and compete against a strong field."

The Spider Alumni Open women's race will include a competitive lineup of programs from across Virginia and the greater Mid-Atlantic region:

  • Christopher Newport
  • Elizabeth City State
