Women’s Cross Country places third at Shenandoah Twilight

WINCHESTER, Va. – The VMI men's and women's cross country teams represented the Institute well with strong finishes in their respective races Friday at Kernstown Battlefield hosted by Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.

On the women's side, the Keydets placed third with 58 points to defeat host Shenandoah which finished with 60 points. Frostburg State came in first place with 46 points followed by Dickinson with 56 points.

Sophomore Reagan Gilman led the team with a second-place finish with a 5K time of 18:48 just ahead of junior Jillian Sisk's third-place time of 19:02. Sophomore Samantha Layton came in ninth overall in 19:58 ahead of Zoffia Gonzalez, who placed 22nd overall in 21:37. Junior Evelyn Anderson also earned team points by arriving in 25th place overall in 22:19.

Sophomore Natalia Dias also competed for VMI but did not finish the race.
