VMI Lacrosse heads to Wagner for crucial NEC battle

LEXINGTON, Va. – Battling for a spot in the Northeast Conference Tournament in two weeks, the VMI lacrosse team travels to Staten Island, New York, for a league tilt at Wagner College Saturday at 3 p.m. at Hameline Field.

The Keydets (8-4, 2-3) look to bounce back from a 15-9 loss at Robert Morris last weekend to get back in the win column as the regular season comes to a close next week. VMI is presently tied for fourth place in the league standings with Detroit Mercy with two games to play before the tournament. Only the top four teams participate in the NEC Tournament.
 
About Wagner College (1-11, 1-4)
The Seahawks opened conference play with losses to Cleveland State and Robert Morris before upsetting rival LIU by a 12-11 score in overtime three weeks ago. Wagner is coming off two straight road losses to Le Moyne and Detroit Mercy and will be hungry for a win Saturday back on its home turf.
 
The Seahawks have fallen in non-league play to Manhattan, Hofstra, Mount St. Mary's, UMass-Lowell, Monmouth, Sacred Heart and NJIT.
 
Jake Mitchell leads the team with 25 points on 14 goals and 11 assists while Danny McMahon has the most goals with 18. Ethan Sieb has totaled 15 points on 13 goals and two helpers.
 
Angus Snow and Nate Yi have split time in the cage with Snow logging 10 games/560 minutes while Yi has played in five games/144 minutes. Snow owns a 13.92 goals-against average to Yi's 13.31.
