LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving broke four records and had three top-10 finishes on day two of the America East Championships at Goodall Pool.
Freshman
Stephen Russell had a big day, placing seventh in the 500 freestyle while also breaking the Rat and team records with a time of 4:30.65. Freshman
Jack Mills set a new Rat record in the 200 IM and earned fifth place with a time of 1:50.36. Mills also snapped the Rat and team 50 freestyle records while leading off the 200 freestyle relay team. That same squad consisting of Mills,
Max Brunner,
Sam Calder, and
Joshua Wolf broke the team record with a 1:21.86 mark.
Freshman
Mackenzie Byrne picked up one point for the Keydets after placing 16th in the 50 freestyle, swimming in 24.39.
Matthew Picard and
Sam Castle went 15th and 16th, respectively, in the 50 freestyle, adding to VMI's point total.
Closing out the diving portion of the championships was
Lane Jones who collected 238.15 points in the three-meter, earning 10th place, while
Ryder Creal finished 14th with 203.05.
VMI men enter the third day of the league championships in sixth with 141 points while the women stand in seventh with 55 points.
