Track & Field performs well on first day of Dixon Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The VMI track and field teams opened the first day of action with excellent times and distances Friday at the Darius Dixon Invitational hosted by Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
 
Day 1 Results
 
Sophomore Jillian Sisk highlighted the day for the women's team by placing third overall in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:43.88,  the third fastest indoor 5K time in school history.
 
Senior Eleyah Armstrong placed ninth in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.68 seconds and followed up with a sixth-place finish in the semis in 7.54 seconds.
 
Shea Hart performed well in the 60m hurdles placing 19th in the prelims in 8.90 seconds and then advanced to the semis to finish 13th overall in 8.78 seconds.
 
She also competed in the long jump and earned 43rd place at 17' 1."
 
Junior SeMore Green placed 40th overall in the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.8
 
Up Next
The Keydets will compete on Day Two of the Darius Dixon Invitational Saturday in Lynchburg.
