LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Women's Swimming & Diving dropped its final dual of the season against Washington & Lee on Saturday at the W&L Natatorium.
The Keydets finish the season with a pair of big victories to match the program high. VMI secured one first-place mark, seven podium finishes, and one record-breaking feat against W&L.
Earning the lone victory was freshman
Mackenzie Byrne who swam a stellar 24.67 in the 50 freestyle. Byrne followed up with second place in the 100 butterfly with a 59.77 mark.
The 400 freestyle relay team consisting of Byrne,
Emerson Cosner,
Ava Phillips, and
Kimiya Sabahi-Miab broke the Rat record that has stood standing since 2022 with a time of 3:49.10.
Freshman
Emerson Cosner scored second in the 1,000 freestyle with an 11:32.22 mark before junior
Noelle Tong nabbed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.12. Sophomore
Walden Wilder and freshman
Parker Belle Fogle went two-three in the 200 breaststroke with both times under 2:40.
Next Up
The Keydets return to the pool February 7-9 for the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia. After the invite, VMI will have the 2025 America East Championships at Goodall Pool in the VMI Aquatic Center from February 18 through February 22.
