Men’s Track off to great start at VMI Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's track and field team started strong on the opening day of the 2025 VMI Invitational Friday at the Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington.

Facing athletes from over 30 schools, the Keydets earned personal records and performed well against solid competition.

Day 1 Results

Zachary Denton had the most impressive finish on the men's side on opening day by winning the 60 meter hurdles prelims with a time of 8.19 seconds. He also competed in the long jump and placed fourth overall with a distance of 7.18 meters.

The relay team consisting of Luke Gaylor, Jack Webb, Rye Jackson and Ben Hagerich placed second overall with a time of 8:02.15.

Top Performances
*Sophomore Rafe Clendenin earned a personal record distance of 16.52 meters to place fourth overall in the weight throw
*Senior Nick Brown arrived in fourth place in the 300 meter in 34.97 seconds. He was followed closely by Jeremiah Wilks in fifth place a split second behind in 34.98 seconds
*Jackson Geisendaffer finished the 5000m in 16:02.23 for 13th place
