Three Keydets open VT Invitational with strong marks

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Three VMI track and field cadet-athletes represented the program well with excellent times and marks Friday evening on Day 1 of the Virginia Tech Invitational at Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Virginia.

In the women's 60-meter dash preliminaries, senior Eleyah Armstrong placed 10th overall in 7.66 seconds before going on to place fifth in the final round in 7.58 seconds.

Prior to the 60m dash, she competed in the long jump and placed 12th overall with a distance of 5.43m, or 17' 9.75."

Junior Shea Hart earned a 13th-place time of 9.0 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, a new personal-best mark.

On the men's side, senior Keyandre Midgett came in fifth in the long jump with a distance of 7.05 meters (23' 1.25").

Three male athletes – Cameron Thomas, Midgett, and Nick Brown - will compete Saturday on Day 2 of the Virginia Tech Invitational.
