Mixed squad sets program Air Rifle record

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The VMI Rifle squads capped off their 2023-24 regular season on Saturday, competing in an NCAA Qualifier (marks announced Monday) hosted by top-ranked West Virginia.

The VMI Mixed team - which is currently T-20th in the country - scored a 4592, while the women's squad registered a 4415, both falling short of the Mountaineers' 4751. The 2341 score in the air rifle by the mixed squad is a new program record for the Keydets.

Although West Virginia had much of the individual scoring, Ryan Harlow had the best performance for VMI, posting an aggregate of 1156. Christopher Hicks was just behind him, shooting a 1154 including a 587 in the air rifle. Phillip Frey only competed in the air rifle, shooting a 587 in that event, while Harlow and Zachary Mauiello each had 584's.

Victoria Phillips and Katelyn Grochalski matched each other in the air rifle as well, each firing a 578.
