LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI Women's Rifle program returns to action Saturday, hosting 17th-ranked Morehead State. The action will get under way from Kilbourne Hall at 8:30 a.m.
Fall Recap
The women's team had a strong fall, earning wins over Wofford and John Jay, setting three aggregate records in the process (4563). Adrianna Sanders, Emma Cameron and Elizabeth Stann will kick off the smallbore and air rifle, with Wuyue Xie, Darian Tweedell, Lauren Canaday, Kathryn Myler and Smita Lokeshwaran competing in the second relays. Tweedell led the VMI Women in the fall, posting an aggregate average of 1144, with an impressive 585 in the air rifle. Behind Twedell ranks Stann, who boasts a 1134 aggregate average. Last time out, however, it was Sanders that cracked the mixed rifle top 10 with a score of 1144 against No. 2 Georgia Southern.
Scouting Morehead State
The Eagles enter Saturday with an even 4-4 record having faced nationally-ranked UT Martin three times and Jacksonville State once. Morehead State lost to UT Martin on November 1, defeated them November 2 and downed Mount Aloysius on November 9-10. Adrianna Beard leads the way for the Eagles with a 1169 aggregate average with George Kuhne posting a 1165 aggregate.
