DAVIDSON, N.C. – VMI Women's Swimming & Diving had a promising outing against Davidson and UNC Asheville Saturday afternoon at Charles A. Cannon Pool.
Leading the Keydets in the pool was freshman
Emerson Cosner who broke the team and Rat records in the 200 butterfly with a stellar time of two minutes and 12.42 seconds to place fourth. Cosner's mark breaks a Rat record from 2022 and a team record from 2019. Cosner also placed in the top 10 in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.84.
Freshman
Mackenzie Byrne also placed well, picking up a fifth-place mark in the 100 freestyle (54.90) and sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:00.27). Junior
Valerie Tonnu tallied a sixth-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle at 12:01.90.
Cosner and Byrne earned a VMI top-10 finish in both of their events. Final results from today's tri-meet found Davidson victorious, 248-43, and UNC Asheville winning, 251-42, against VMI.
