LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Wrestling Assistant Coach
Eddie Klimara accepted an invitation to compete in the Championship Wrestling Association Showcase: Round 2 on Saturday, October 19, at Liberty Arena in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to strap up my shoes and compete again," says Klimara. "It has been a few years since I have stepped on a mat to wrestle in a competition at a high level so I am just going to let it fly and have some fun."
Klimara, who joined the Keydets coaching staff in 2022, will kick off his CWA career this weekend at 140 pounds. The 2015 All-American spent four seasons with the Oklahoma State Cowboys wrestling program where he earned a career record of 103-41 and qualified for the NCAA Championships in all four years. VMI Wrestling Head Coach
Jim Gibson will coach Klimara beside the mat during the showcase.
The Joliet, Illinois native will battle Zeke Moisey, the 2015 NCAA runner-up out of West Virginia. Moisey and Klimara are familiar foes, as the two-time All-American knocked off Klimara in the 2015 NCAA Championship quarterfinals.
"I believe this is a great event for the sport of wrestling to help grow and build a bigger platform," continues Klimara. "It gives athletes another chance to get out there and wrestle again. I am excited and looking forward to this experience. Rah Virginia Mil!"
