About VMI:
The Keydets had a home game canceled on Saturday against Liberty University. The last time VMI was in action, the Keydets scored a dramatic 1-0 victory over Radford University Tuesday evening, the team's first Division I win since the 2014 season. Freshman
Kyle Grant scored with just under four minutes left to play as VMI defeated the Highlanders on Drill Field #2 in the program's Corps Game.
Grant took a long pass along the left wing, eluded the charging Highlander goalie, and fired a shot past a Radford defender at 86:01 for the game winner. Radford had two attempts to tie in the closing minutes, including one in the final 10 seconds, but both shots were stopped by
Dylan Holbach.
Holbach made eight saves in the first start of his
Keydet career, being pressed into action with two of the program's goalies out due to injury.
About the Fighting Squirrels:
Mary Baldwin is 0-8 this year after falling 4-2 at Wilson on Saturday. MBC's five goals have all been unassisted tallies netted by different scorers and the team has used three goalkeepers.
History:
VMI won the only meeting between the two schools last fall 2-0. Current Keydets
Viktor Petrusevski and
Grant Martin had goals.
