GREENVILLE, S.C. – The VMI men's soccer team dropped a 6-1 contest to host Furman University on a drenched field at Stone Stadium Saturday afternoon in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Paladins got on the board quickly with goals in the 15th minute (14:38) and 24th minutes (23:15) for a quick 2-0 advantage.

VMI's Yeirin Mejia cut into the deficit with a goal late in the first half (42:43) off an assist from Sam Dowdy to give the Keydets some momentum going into the break.

Furman kept its composure in the second half to score two goals midway through the latter stanza as Wilfer Bustamante (58:12) and Diego Hernandez (62:19) gave the Paladins a commanding 4-1 lead with just under 30 minutes to play.
