Personal Records Fall at JMU Invite

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The VMI women's track and field team saw its best performance to this point of the outdoor season as multiple athletes broke personal records and earned first-place finishes Saturday at the JMU Invite at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Top Performances
*Eleyah Armstrong led the 200m group with a fourth-place time of 24.38 – a new personal record – and was followed by SeMore Green's eighth-place mark of 24.82 seconds. Heaven Hall finished 11th for the event with a PR time of 25.06 seconds
*Armstrong also placed fourth in the long jump with a PR distance of 5.65m
*Freshman Taylor Hill finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 3.55m
*Caroline Fiorillo came in eighth in the 3000m run in 11:23.96
*In the javelin throw, Rachel Roberson led the group with a PR distance of 23.61m for seventh place overall. Melanie Jimenez placed eighth (22.05m) and Isabella Cabales finished 10th in 14.20m
*Julie Freitas placed 10th overall with a PR distance of 10.73m in the triple jump

"We took a full women's team to JMU and our team lined up well.

"JMU was a small, one-day meet for our team to compete. Our women's team keeps moving forward and our coaching staff is doing the right things for our team to get better each day.

"Next weekend, we will be taking a handful of those ready to compete against the NCAA East Region Championship athletes."
