Track and Field Sees Progress on Day 1 of VMI Winter Classic

LEXINGTON, Va. – Competing in its largest event to this point of the indoor season, the VMI track and field teams saw progress on Day 1 of the VMI Winter Classic held Friday at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

Women's weight throw had two personal bests as senior Judith Gonzalez and junior Alexis Rocker earned personal record distances for the event. Freshman Taylor Hill also logged a fourth-place height in the pole vault to lead the women's team on Day 1.

VMI Director of Track and Field Zack Scott
"We are looking to see how far we have come with a little less than four weeks to the Southern Conference Championships. We have competition in every event and our coaching staff has prepared our Keydets to compete.

"The women's team is small this year, but our coaches are doing their best to prepare them to compete."
