Personal Records Fall on Day 1 of VMI Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. - With a week to train following Christmas Furlough, the VMI track and field teams competed with much success Friday to open the VMI Invitational at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

Sophomore Gretal Shank led the women's team with a personal best and third-place finish in the women's 1000m. In the middle straight, fellow sophomore Eleyah Armstrong continues to show her speed campaign, earning a slot in the 60m dash Saturday.

Freshman Taylor Hill finished in ninth place in the pole vault with a height of 3.15 meters.

VMI Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Zack Scott
"Once again, our women's team gets a little better each meet and our coaching staff continues to get results from our small number of competitors. Saturday we will see how much we have improved over Christmas Furlough."
