Keydets Conclude Day 2 of Raleigh Relays

Day 2 results

RALEIGH, N.C. – Led by thrower Solomon Ghosh, the VMI men's track and field team concluded the second day of competition at the 2022 Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Ghosh threw the discus a personal-best distance of 50.23 meters for 10th place overall at the event.

In the 100 meter dash, senior Jordin Poindexter came in 23rd overall in 10.66 seconds and freshman Jeremiah Wilks arrived in 54th with a time of 11.04 seconds. Nick Brown also competed in the event.

Freshman Xander Topos competed in the 100 meter hurdles and earned 35th place in 15.55 seconds.

Johnnie Walker led the way in the 400 meter with a 28th-place time of 49.21 seconds just ahead of freshman Richard Edwards' time of 49.80 seconds. Jonathan Gray, Noah Schagelin and Rafael Mas also competed for VMI in the 400 meter.

Senior Gavin Jenkins arrived in 37th place overall in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:13.77.

The Keydets return to action Saturday morning for the final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays

"?The team posted some good performances and life time PRs. Freshmen Richard Edwards ran his first outdoor collegiate 400m race in 49.80. Solomon Ghosh's discus throw reset his personal best mark with a toss of 50.23m. We did not all perform to the level we are capable, but now we have an outdoor starting point to learn, motivate and improve for our next competition at William and Mary's Colonial Relays."
