Lacrosse Travels to Monmouth for Tuesday Match

LEXINGTON, Va. – Finishing off its three-game road swing, the VMI lacrosse team heads to West Long Branch, New Jersey, to face Monmouth University for a Tuesday afternoon matchup at 1 p.m.

The Keydets (2-4) are coming off a 16-11 loss at the hands of Detroit Mercy Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Michigan, a game that the Keydets led 9-1 early on before the Titans made adjustments on both ends of the field.
 
About the Monmouth Hawks (2-3)
 
Monmouth opened the season with two losses to nationally ranked opponents in #18 Princeton and #17 Delaware before topping Wagner by a 9-7 score on March 1.
 
The Hawks fell to Saint Joseph's by a 15-10 count on March 5 before defeating NJIT by a 15-7 score this past Friday. Tuesday's matchup with the Keydets will be the Hawks' second home game of the season.
 
Connor Macrae is the indisputable team leader with 14 goals for the year through five games and is trailed by Max Brooks, who has six goals on the young season. Cade Stratton, David Cormack and Sean Ketchen all have four goals thus far.
 
Jack Gertie ranks as the squad's top defender with six caused turnovers on the year to go with 11 groundball pickups. Ryan Morris and Garrett Klurman both have four caused turnovers after five matches.
 
Faceoff specialist Matt Soutar has won 60 of 127 faceoffs to go with 36 groundballs.
 
Goalie Noah Lode has played all but 20 minutes this season and owns a 13.60 goals-against average to go with 70 saves (.519 save percentage)
