Keydets Open T&F Season Strong at VMI Team Challenge

LEXINGTON, Va. – With multiple athletes placing in the top five of their respective events, the VMI men's track and field team earned solid marks to open the 2022-23 indoor season strong Saturday at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

The Keydets were led by sophomore Hunter Davis in the shot put, who earned a personal-best distance of 13.80m to place first overall in the competition. Teammate Herbert Brooks finished close behind in second, throwing the shot a personal-best mark of 13.77m.

"This was a first for our program starting our season six weeks earlier in our training before exams. We were fortunate to have Hampton, Georgetown, Shenandoah and Washington & Lee and others join us for a strong, competitive event. Our team made huge strides today and it was great to see them compete to the best of their ability."
