Keydets break two records on day one of Loyola S&D Invite

BALTIMORE, Md. – The VMI men's and women's swimming and diving teams broke two program records and had several outstanding performances on the first day of the two-day Loyola (H2ounds) University Invitational.

Six teams are competing in the women's field and five in the men's half.

Women's Highlights:

Senior London Yerasimides won the 3 meter diving competition with a score of 222.05
The 800 free relay team of Julia Ward, Noelle Tong, Anna Grace Adams and Valerie Tonnu set the new freshmen record in the 800 free relay in 8:11.35, placing sixth
Rachel Greathouse placed 16^th in the 500 free
Sarah Liebenow finished the 200 IM in 2:21.85
Tong was 18^th in the 50 free in 25.29
The 400 medley relay team of Carter Wasser, Anne Bowles, Jillian Maher and Kate Taylor took 12^th in 5:18.22

Men's Highlights:

Malik Nelson broke the freshmen record in the 50 free in 20.95, the first VMI freshman to break 21 seconds in the event. He took sixth
Senior Bridger Thurston placed second in the 1 meter diving event with a score of 237.15
Jack Sheehan finished the 200 IM in 10^th with a time of 1:55.61
Collin Marks swam a 4:58.41 in the 500 free
Connor Doyle, Dalton Cosner, Collin Marks and Sheehan combined to swim a 7:16.41 in the 800 free relay to take ninth
The 400 medley relay team of Chino Vera, Chase Lane, Nelson and Cosner placed 10^th in 3:27.74
