VMI Swim to Host Mount St. Mary's Saturday
LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host Mount St. Mary's University (Md.) Saturday in Clark King Pool at 11 a.m. As per America East Conference policy, no spectators will be allowed.
The Keydets split a home meet with visiting Southern Virginia University Friday evening. The men cruised to a 215-71 win to improve to 3-0 while the women dropped a heartbreaker to the Knights 143-142.
Sophomore
Jack Sheehan earned victories in the 100 breast (1:00.19), 200 breast (2:15.01) and the 200 IM (1:58.94), while sophomore
Connor Doyle was a double winner in the 200 free in 1:49.32 and 500 free in 5:06.28.
Bridger Thurston won the 1 meter (194.50) and 3 meter (180.97) diving competitions.
Zach Emerson won the 100 backstroke in 53.71 and the 200 back in 1:56.77.
Sarah Liebenow,
Sophie Svoboda and
London Yerasimides each won two individual events for the VMI women's team. Liebenow won the 1000 free in 12:13.86 and the 500 free in 5:55.29, while Svoboda was first in the 50 free (25.50) and 100 free (56.44). Yerasimides scored 169.30 in the 1 meter dive and 200.55 in the 3 meter dive.
VMI had two meets at Mount St. Mary's last January, with the VMI men's team winning both and the Mountaineer women's team taking two.
Both Mountaineer teams are 0-2 this year.
