Rifle Teams Fall to UAB

Results

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI rifle teams competed well but came up short against visiting University of Alabama Birmingham Saturday morning at Kilbourne Hall.

The Blazers came in first with 4562 aggregate points (2253 SB, 2309 AR) and was followed by the VMI mixed team with 4527 points (2217 SB, 2310 AR). The VMI women came in third with 4382 points (2108 SB, 2274 AR).

In the smallbore segment, VMI senior Jessica Hankin led the way with a 564 for third place while Simon Krauthamer placed sixth overall with 555 points. Kolton Dobson (7^th, 551) and Stephen Garner (8^th, 547) also scored team points for the mixed team. Freshmen Austin Rheuby, Michael Annesi and Ryan Harlow also competed for VMI in the category.

The VMI women's smallbore team was led by Cassidy Dufour, who placed 14^th overall in 530 and was pursued by Katie Grochalski's 15^th-place mark of 530. Claire Lee scored team points with a a 16^th-place 524 and freshman Victoria Phillips arrived in 17^th with 524 points. Maxine Gray-Barth and Laini Morgan also competed for the women's team at the competition.

In the air rifle segment, Christopher Hicks led the mixed team with his first-place finish with 584 points and was followed by Samantha Reid's 580 for third place overall. Hankin logged a 7^th-place mark of 574 while Savanah Diamond also scored team points with her ninth-place 572. Krauthamer competed and came in 12^th overall with a 561.

The VMI women were led by Cassidy Dufour's sixth-place total of 575 points and was followed closely by Maxine Gray-Barth's 10^th-place mark of 570. Katie Grochalski came in 11^th overall with a 568 and Claire Lee also scored team points with a 561 for 13^th place. Victoria Phillips arrived in 14^th overall with a 554.
