Rifle Teams Set to Compete at The Citadel

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI rifle teams will be on the road this weekend to face rivals The Citadel and UAB in a pair of Southern Conference matches Saturday morning in Charleston, South Carolina.

The match is slated for an 8 a.m. start at the Inouye Marksmanship Center at The Citadel.

Juniors Simon Krauthamer and Samantha Reid led VMI in the smallbore and air rifle in last week's postal match against ranked Morehead State. Jessica Hankin is looking to build off her strong rifle season so far with valuable points for the mixed team.

The mixed team will look to James Doucett, Nicholas Schaefer, and Stephen Garner to add to the total points in both categories. J. Nathaniel Gardner rounded out the top VMI mixed team in air rifle to add points in last week's match.

On the women's side, Savanah Diamond continues to lead VMI women's team in the air rifle, with help from Claire Lee in the smallbore and newcomer Maxine Gray-Barth in the air rifle.

Sophomore Sarah Robertson and freshman Katelynn Grochalski, who placed in the top five of VMI women in the smallbore and air rifle last week, will continue to boost the women's team this weekend.
