SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI attackman
Ryan Perouty and Richmond goalkeeper Jack Rusbuldt have been named the Southern Conference men's lacrosse offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all games Feb. 18-24. The awards are selected by the league office.
VMI's Perouty scored four goals and handed out two assists for a six-point day in the Keydets' 14-11 loss at No. 18 Lehigh on Thursday. The junior from Houston, Texas, got the scoring started just 2:03 into the contest and added another in the first 15 minutes to help VMI take a 4-1 lead into the second quarter. Perouty scored again in the second frame before notching his fourth goal of the day in the third to draw the Keydets within a goal at 10-9. He assisted on a goal midway through the third and notched his second helper of the day on VMI's first goal of the fourth quarter, which tied the contest at 11. Perouty has scored at least one point in all 28 games of his career.
Richmond's Rusbuldt turned in a .621 save percentage and a 11.00 goals-against average in a pair of contests last week, adding a school record in his second appearance.
