VMI Men's Swimming Defeats Mount St. Mary's
EMMITSBURG, Md. – The VMI men's swimming and diving team defeated Mount St. Mary's University (Md.) 122-102 Friday evening, while the Keydet women fell 137-73.
Freshman
Connor Doyle took first in both the 200 and 400 freestyle in 2:00.06 and 4:17.69, respectively, and
Ryan Schmitz won the 100 free in 54.34. Freshman
Jack Sheehan won the men's 200-meter IM in 2:11.64 and
Conner Jorgensen won the 1500 freestyle in 17:16.28 and was second in the 400 freestyle.
Zach Emerson won the 100 backstroke in 59.56 and
Bridger Thurston was the winner of the 1 meter diving with a score of 177.45.
Sophie Svoboda won the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.28 and was second in the 50 free in 28.52.
London Yerasimides won the women's 1-meter diving competition (150.10) with
Calle Biles right behind in second (149.40).
Sarah MacDougall came in second in the 100 free in 1:04.83 and Isabella DeCosta was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:16.24.
Makenna Moore placed second in the 400 freestyle in 5:17.48 and the team of Biles,
Olivia Bryant, DeCosta and
Catherine Ahumada came in second in the 200 freestyle relay.
The two teams will square off again Saturday at 11 a.m. in a separate meet.
