LEXINGTON, Va. - Kerisha Goode shattered her own school record in the 200-meter dash to lead VMI's track and field efforts on the final day of the VMI Winter Relays, contested Saturday at the Corps Physical Training Facility on VMI Post.

Goode reached a new strata in the 200 Saturday, as she won the 200 in 24.65 seconds, over two-tenths better than the school record she had set in 2016 (24.88). She also was fifth in the 60-meter dash, where she timed in at 7.73.

Also victorious Saturday was the men's Distance Medley Relay (DMR), comprised of Josh Willard, Andrew Gould, Jahanzib Shahbaz and Micah Ellington. The quartet recorded a time of 10:21.42.

In addition, Ariana Ruffin finished second in the women's 400 (58.69) and 16th in the 200 (25.79) less than two hours apart. Andrew Gould also did that double on the men's side and finished in the top-17 in both events.

Other top five finishers for the Keydets included Lee Warren, who was fifth in the men's 60-meter hurdles (8.27), Bria Anderson, who was third in the women's long jump (5.54 M/18'2 1/4") and Andrew Arlint, who tied for fifth in the men's pole vault (4.35 M/14'3 1/4").

Finally, the women's DMR finished third, as Logan Luckett, Ruffin, Christina Hill and Bethany King posted a 12:16.75 effort, and Sarah Leckman finished seventh in the women's shot put (12.35 M/40'6 1/2").

"What more can you say about Kerisha Goode?," offered VMI head coach Darrin Webb. "Two top five finishes today and another school record - we look forward to seeing what she accomplishes at the SoCon Championships later this month. I was also particularly impressed today with Ariana Ruffin and Andrew Gould, being able to do the 200-400 double in such a compressed amount of time, and being able to do it well."

VMI track and field will return to action Feb. 17 at the Kent State Tune-Up in Kent, Ohio.
