Keydets Fall in Tri-Meet at UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. - The VMI Keydet swimming and diving teams posted a handful of top five finishes, but were bested by UMBC and East Carolina in a tri-meet Saturday afternoon in Baltimore, Md. The VMI women (0-11) fell to UMBC 128-86 and to ECU by the same score, while the Keydet men (1-9) lost to both schools 146-116.

As has been the case much of the year, John Kim led the way for the Keydets once again Saturday. Kim was fourth in the 100 back in 52.65 and fifth in the 200 back with a 1:56.05 clocking. David Turbyfill also recorded a pair of top five finishes, doing so in the 500 free (5:03.91) and the 1000 free (10:25.84), while Jacob Smilie was credited with a fifth-place result in the 200 IM (2:05.41).

Calle Biles finished eighth in the 200 free for the top individual finish for the Keydet women (2:07.90).

VMI swimming and diving will return to action January 26, when the Keydets open the Liberty Duals in Lynchburg.
