Track and Field Back in Action at Virginia Tech

VMI track and field will return to action Friday, as the Keydets take part in the Virginia Tech Challenge, hosted by the Hokies in Blacksburg. Action gets underway at 5 p.m., and then resumes on day two, Saturday, at 11 a.m. The meet is VMI's last before the Southern Conference Championship begins Feb. 26 in Birmingham, Ala.

How to Follow

Fans can follow along with the action via live results, accessible at the link to the left of this article.

Second Time Around

This is VMI's second meet at Virginia Tech this season, following the season-opening Virginia Tech Invitational Jan. 15 and 16. That meet saw Avery Martin (800) and Joel Hoisington (shot) earn victories to lead the Keydets.

Events to Watch

Women's Mile - 7:10 p.m. Friday

Sophomore Bethany King currently ranks 11th in the SoCon standings in this event - King will be VMI's lone entrant as she looks to move up the performance list prior to next week's conference meet.

Men's Shot Put - Noon Saturday

This event has been one of the primary stories of the Keydet season, as VMI ranks 1-2-4 in the SoCon in the men's shot put and all three of those throwers - Joel Hoisington, Jordan White and Grant Sanchez - are scheduled to throw here as the Keydets look to tighten their hold on the conference performance list.

Next Time Out

The Keydets resume action Feb. 26 on the opening day of the Southern Conference Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
