REDLANDS, Calif. -- It was another day of split results for the Virginia Military Institute women's water polo as the Keydets opened day one of the Lancer Invite #2. VMI fell to Pomona-Pitzer 10-9 earlier on Saturday before exacting revenge on Redlands 11-9 later in the day at the Bulldogs' Thompson Aquatic Center.
In the first game of the day, VMI (7-8) got a hat trick from senior Molly Andoe, who finished with three. Junior Mackenzie Perkins and freshman Bailey Huddleston potted two goals each against the Sage Hens. Sophomore Caitlyn Jackson and rookie Sierra Payne netted one goal each. In the cage, sophomore Emily Cait Farsakian made seven stops in the team's eighth game of the week.
Against the Bulldogs, the Keydets utilized a five-goal fourth quarter to surge past Redlands. That total was aided by freshman Cecliya Lundy, who struck four times, including three over the final eight minutes. And, Huddleston and junior Celine Lazzaro each scored twice while Perkins chipped in one tally. Farsakian picked up the seventh win of her season, making nine stops in the victory.
VMI returns to action as it takes on the host of the Lancer Invite #2, Cal Baptist at 11:40 a.m. PST at the Lancer Aquatic Center. The Keydets conclude their Spring Furlough trip to California with a 3:40 p.m. PST game against Chapman, also at the Lancer Aquatic Center.
