LEXINGTON, Va. - VMI distance runner Cabell Willis was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 team for men's track and field and cross country, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon.

Willis comes off a year in which he swept the Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in indoor track, outdoor track and cross country, becoming the first Big South athlete to do so since the 2000-01 season. His 3.99 GPA in history has sparked him to five straight Big South All-Academic honors over the XC and track disciplines, and he holds academic stars. Willis is also a member of various honor societies, a multi-time Dean's List honoree and was a co-captain of this year's cross country squad.
