Dmitriev's Third-Place Finish Leads Keydets at IC4A/ECAC Meet

PRINCETON, N.J. – Andrey Dmitriev posted his first career individual all-IC4A honor, a third-place finish in the 1,500-meters, to lead VMI on the final day of the IC4A/ECAC Championships, held in Princeton, N.J.

Dmitriev clocked in at 3:47.97 to earn the podium finish in the 1,500, a result that was not his first all-IC4A laurel. Dmitriev was also a member of the world-leading 4X800-meter relay team that won the IC4A indoor title in 2010, but had not previously enjoyed a podium result in individual events at the IC4A Championships.

The third-place finish gave the Keydets six points on the day, good for a tie for 34th in the overall team standings. Cornell won the team title with 68 points.

Also in action on Sunday was Avion Jones, who competed in the high jump. Jones failed to clear the opening height of 2.04 meters (6'8 ¼”), a height that only seven of the 21 jumpers got over.

On the ECAC side, Renee Reives wrapped up her outstanding sophomore season with a 17th-place finish in the shot put. Reives stretched the tape to 12.61 meters (41'4 ½”).

The Keydets will now await Thursday's announcement of qualifiers to the NCAA East Preliminary Round Meet, scheduled for May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C. on the campus of North Carolina A&T University.
