Women's S&D Drops Two at Mount

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Freshman Ally Van Valen had two podium finishes, including a victory in the 400 meter freestyle, but the VMI women's swimming and diving team dropped both ends of a tri-meet against Mount St. Mary's and McDaniel Saturday in Emmitsburg, Md. The Keydets fell to the host Mount 183-59 and to McDaniel 181-57.

Van Valen notched VMI's (0-7) lone win on the day, as she earned her first collegiate victory by clocking in at 4:52.35 in the 400 free. She also finished third in the 200 free, touching the wall in 2:21.40 to do so.

Justina Dunne also had a pair of podium finishes for the Keydets, as she was second in the 100 back, timing in at 1:10.11, and also placed second in the 200 IM with a 2:38.96 clocking.

The Keydets were third in a pair of relays, as Dunne, Katheryne Austin, Emy Farsakian and Mackenzie Perkins clocked in at 2:15.27 in the 200 medley relay, while Perkins, Farsakian, Elise Reed and Amanda Berrios touched the wall in 2:01.83 in the 200 free relay.

VMI women's swimming and diving is back in action Nov. 10, taking on Davidson in Davidson, N.C. Action is set to get underway at 1 p.m.
