Another Record Falls at GWU Quad

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's swimming and diving team broke its 17th and 18th program records of the young season Saturday, doing so at a quad meet hosted by Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C. The Keydets (1-9) lost all three portions of the event, falling to Campbell (176-16), Gardner-Webb (177-15) and North Carolina A&T (109-59).

Meghan O'Halloran, Mackenzie Perkins, Celine Lazzaro and Katheryne Austin teamed up for the 400 free relay Saturday, covering the distance in 3:56.50 to finish seventh, and set a new VMI freshman and overall school record in the event. By pushing the total of records broken to 18, the women's swimming and diving team has bested 18 of the 38 best marks kept, or nearly 47 percent in just three weeks.

Perkins and O'Halloran also saw action individually, highlighted by O'Halloran placing sixth in the 100 free (57.20) and Perkins finishing sixth in the 50 free (26.53).

VMI women's swimming and diving has now concluded its fall season, and will return to action January 14, taking part in a quad meet hosted by James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va.
