WASHINGTON, D.C. - The VMI women's swimming & diving team dropped three decisions in its final regular season event, falling to Howard, St. Peter's and Mount St. Mary's at a quad-meet held at Howard's Burr Gymnasium on Saturday.
The Keydets were defeated by the host Lady Bison, 146-48, by St. Peter's, 190-43, and by Mount St. Mary's, 204-31. The team's top finish came from junior Briana Allard, who won the one-meter diving with a score of 143.25.
Junior Chelsea Nugent placed sixth in both the 100 backstroke (1:11.23) and the 50 freestyle (28.76). Senior Ateala Tuff also placed sixth in the 1000 yard freestyle (14:27.69), as did freshman Pin-Fen Chen also placed sixth in the 200 backstroke (2:43.18). The foursome of Chen, Tuff, Nugent and Glendon Robertson placed fifth in the 200 medley relay, swimming a 2:15.73.
The VMI women's swimming & diving team returns to action at the CCSA Championships, being held Feb. 18-20 at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
